A few years ago I experimented with silicone mold making and resin casting.
One of the more successful projects I created during that time was Oogie Boogie Dice from the Nightmare Before Christmas. I learned more about the process and how I could improve with each new casting.
So earlier this year I decided to take a new stab at the dice with improved knowledge of the techniques. I sculpted the dice in clay, using new reference to make them more accurate to the movie than my last attempt. Then I molded them in silicone and cast them in a much better resin. It took a few tries to work the kinks out of the new mold, but I got the new castings to look nearly flawless.
It was fun to revisit this project and see just how much I had improved over the course of a few years.
